Special K

"Special K" is a nickname given to me ages ago. I've been playing and writing music since I was a teen but after some time off I'm back in the groove with my third album in four years.

I try not be nailed down by genres. While most of my music is best categorized as Alternative/Indie Rock, styles can range from Grunge to Blues, Pop, Punk, Goth, and good ol' Rock & Roll and a little comedy and political commentary thrown in. Don't judge by one tune, sample a few!

Special K and Unfit Productions is a one-man show (with a little help from some wonderful women vocalists) from song writing, playing and recording through arranging, mixing and mastering.

"Third Time's the Charm?" My latest album released in May 2019 is a punchy, grungy Alt Rock album (with some rock, goth, punk, pop and blues thrown in) covering a spectrum of topics from excess, lust, and relational strife, to politics, mass murder and even space junk. Over two years in the works, "Third Time's the Charm" was recorded, mixed and mastered at Unfit Studios in Cotati, CA.

"Living in the Corporate USA" My second album is a progressive manifesto released the summer before the 2016 election. It looks at a world where corporations write the laws and own the government. But let's not get too grim; I tackle corporate politics and lobbying with a satirical grin and a wink with some light-hearted tunes about some pretty heavy topics. "Living in the Corporate USA" was recorded and mixed at Unfit Studios in Cotati, CA and mastered by the great Frank Arkwright at Abbey Road Studios, London.

"Mid-Life Angst" My debut album was released in 2015 and is all about life as a 50-something dad of three teens, trying to maintain a sense of self with a shrug and a laugh. "Mid-Life Angst" was recorded and mixed at Unfit Studios in Cotati, CA and mastered by Blair Hardman at Zone Recording Studios in Cotati, CA.
