From the recording Living in the Corporate U.S.A.
A pop-rock tune that tackles climate change and asks "what's it gonna take?"; not only to fix the problem (and let's be honest, it may be too late for that already) but what's it gonna take just to get those in power to admit that it truly exists. Don't be a climate denier. This song was written in the summer of 2015 when massive fires rolled through a dried out Lake County in California while other parts of the world dealt with 100-year floods.
Lyrics
Hey, hey, hey, hey
What’s it gonna take?
Hey, hey, what’s it gonna take to slow this climate change?
It’s too late to stop it now, but it’s a stand we have to make
It’s here now so we can’t ignore it
The poles are melting, too late to explore it
California is burning and it’s time to make a change
Hey, hey, hey, hey, What’s it gonna take?
Hey, hey, hey Hey, hey what’s it gonna take before the sea begins to rise?
Killing off more species, it should be no big surprise
What will be left for our childrens’ children?
An inhospitable mess we’ll leave them
Cities flooded by diluted oceans as the planet slowly dies
Don’t be a climate denier
Can’t you see half the world is on fire?
The other half in torrential storms, and temps
Keep getting higher and higher
Hey, hey, what’s it gonna take to slow this climate change?
It’s too late to stop it now but it’s a stand we have to make
But corporations like their fossil fuels
And have the money to make up the rules
But it’s time to go back to school and learn just what it’s gonna take
Hey, hey, hey, hey, What’s it gonna take? Hey, hey, hey
