From the recording Mid-Life Angst
So I said to myself when starting this album that I would write what I know, about life as a 50-something dad with teens, and NO LOVE SONGS! And then this happened. The Floydian harmonies give this song a comfortably numb feel with a Gilmourish solo hiding a subtle key change for an interesting twist.
Lyrics
My heart aches from time to time
Your heart follows close to mine
And if I fall into my cave
Far across the ocean waves of time
Will pass before our eyes
For all these years flying by
For all the fears, laughs and cries
I’ll always stand beside your side
Try to swallow all my pride
For our lives to coincide
Far away upon the tide
We are on this endless ride
From child to child we firmly stand
Try to formulate a plan to raise
Two ladies and a man
Sleep in spooning in our bed
Woke up with music in my head
I will always be your fan
While you’re singing in our band
And we’re walking hand in hand
Your heart will follow the rhyme
I’ll love you ‘til the end of time...
